WSDOT Memorial Foundation Educational Grants

  1. Educational grants may be provided to qualified family members. Qualified family members are defined as survivors of a Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) employee who dies in the line of duty or becomes totally disabled in the line of duty. Survivors include spouse, natural children and step children, and adopted children.
  2. The Foundation President will appoint a Committee to review educational grant applications, and will, with approval from the Board of Directors, identify the quantity and financial value of the grants.
    1. Normally, applicants must be 18 years of age or a high school graduate. However, the Foundation may present educational grants to high school graduates needing financial assistance if unique circumstances exist
    2. The applicant may receive an educational grant only if they begin their course of study within ten years of their graduation from high school. Applicants who graduated before June 2015 will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
    3. Educational grants may be awarded to persons desiring trade school or apprenticeship training, as well as to those desiring a college/university education.
    4. Educational grants for out-of-state tuition shall not exceed the cost of a similar program of study at the University of Washington.
  3. Grant decisions by the Foundation Board of Directors are final.
